Bee Jays Bounce Back
The Liberal Bee Jays snapped their three game losing skid with a 16-12 win over the Colorado Lumberjax Monday at Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch.
Seth Green led off the game with a triple and scored on a Cooper Kardokus ground out. The Lumberjax scored two in the first for a 2-1 lead. Liberal scored two in the third to lead 3-2. Cal Anthony doubled and Trento Uyeda provided a two RBI two out single. Kaden Isola ripped a lead off double to left center to begin the fourth. Cade Adams lined a two out two RBI single to left to make it 5-2 in the fourth. The Lumberjax put up six runs on four hits, three walks, and a hit batter for an 8-5 lead. The Jax led 9-5 when they added a sixth inning run. The Jays rallied in the seventh with 11 runs on seven hits as 16 batters came up. Kaden Isola walked with the bases loaded to make it 9-6. Charlie Ziola lined a two RBI double to left to make it 9-8. Liberal scored the tying run on a dropped third strike. Cole Manuel singled home the lead run. Cade Adams blasted a three run home run for the 13-9 lead. Cal Anthony followed that up with a solo home run for the 14-9 lead. Jhett Huffman provided a two RBI single later in the inning. The Jax came right back with two in the seventh to make it 16-11. Both teams loaded the bases but didn't score in the eighth.
Liberal out-hit Colorado 18-14. Both teams had one error. Cal Anthony was 5-6 with a home run and two doubles.. Cole Manuel was 3-4. Cade Adams was 2-5 with a home run and five RBI's. Kaden Isola was 2-4 with two doubles. Charlie Ziola was 2-3 with a double.
On a tough day to pitch with winds howling out, Josh Mosley retired 10 in a row at one time. Josiah Rojas closed it out with two innings. He got out of a bases loaded no out jam in the eighth.
The Lumberjax are 5-16 overall and 2-13 in the Rocky Mountain. Liberal is 11-6 overall and 9-5 in the Rocky Mountain. Liberal plays at the Lumberjax again Tuesday night at 5:30 central time with pre-game at 5:15 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
