For nearly 70 years, the Liberal Bee Jays have built one of the most respected traditions in summer collegiate baseball. Founded in 1955, the program has become a national powerhouse—defined by consistency, player development, and a commitment to competing at the highest level.
Based in Liberal, Kansas, the Bee Jays have long been a staple of the NBC World Series—the premier stage for amateur baseball in the country. Over the decades, the program has captured five national championships (1968, 1979, 1985, 2000, 2010) and earned seven runner-up finishes, cementing its place among the elite organizations in the game.
The Bee Jays’ impact goes far beyond wins and titles. The program has helped develop over 100 Major League players, while producing leaders both on and off the field. Many of the game’s respected figures have worn the Bee Jays uniform, including future MLB players and managers like Mike Hargrove, who returned to lead the program after his professional career.
As a founding member of the Jayhawk Collegiate League and a consistent contender across multiple leagues, the Bee Jays have continued to set the standard for summer baseball. With 13 league titles and numerous state championships, the program’s legacy is built not just on moments—but on sustained excellence year after year.
Today, that tradition lives on. Every summer, a new group of players takes the field, competing in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League, with the same expectation that has defined the Bee Jays for generations: compete at the highest level, represent the community, and continue a legacy built on winning.
